Interacting With Angels

Wow. So we are gonna be talking about angels. Angels. Angels. Okay.

And, you know, I just thought that we just thought that we should talk about it because there's a little bit of confusion out there and what's the role of angels in in god's kingdom. So I thought I'd just talk about that. And so, let's just open up with the biblical aspect of what are the characteristics and what are the purposes of angels to begin with?

Well, well, we can start with Malachi. Malachi three and sixteen talks about and it's and and I'm not I'm not gonna read all of these scriptures. I'm just gonna I want you to take notes. Malachi 13 to 16 describes a book of remembrance being written before god concerning those who revere him. So, angels can act as scribes, right?

Who's accounting those words? Whoo. Angels. Jesus, the Bible says that Jesus forever makes intercession for us but Jesus is not writing down what we do and say. There are angels whose their job is to account for what man says and does.

That's a good one. I didn't I didn't think about that one.

Yeah. Yeah. Those angels have, that's their role. Ezekiel nine and three through four says, a figure closed in linen who had the writing case at his side is seen recording actions. Again, that's Ezekiel nine, three, and four.

We have arts, archangels and this actually is throughout the Bible but we know Mike, the most famous angel is Michael. Right. V, Michael, the archangel and this angels in in charge of war, in charge of structure, in charge of leading the charge when it comes to fighting against the enemy. We also know plenty of stories. I think it's interesting that we we look at how the word angel is being used interchangeably sometimes with god and so we have to be careful with The original language.

With the original and the original Hebrew language. Sometimes, they're interchangeably used. Jacob said when he wrestled that he wrestled with god and then in Hosea, Hosea's referred to the same story and said that he wrestled with an entity called an angel and so the same story but different words used interchangeably to say the same thing. So, we have to be careful that sometimes when we're when they're talking about because if you think about it for for for example, if we are, if it's not revealed to us, if we see, no, the Bible says, no man has ever seen god, right? So, if we have an experience that's angelic, we might not know whether we're seeing god or an angel.

We just know we're seeing something that is of a different nature than us. Wow. So, so that's important that we understand that sometimes interchangeably with throughout the scriptures that the word angel can be referring to god and the word god can be referring to angels. That's good. Just a just a tidbit there.

You know, I I got some scriptures to share as well over here. One of the other functions that angels perform is right out of Psalm 91. We've all heard this, but it we're gonna mention it. Psalm 91 verse 11, for he will command his angels concerning you to do what? To guard you in all your ways.

So one of the other thing, that's, you know, the concept that we hear people talk about, your guardian angel. Mhmm. This is one of the scriptures that it talks about. Absolutely. Along the same lines is Matthew 18 verse 10 and and Marcus, we spoke about this one.

See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven, their angels always see the face of my father who is in heaven. So, the the these children have angels in heaven assigned to them. Yes. Doing what?

Giving charge over them to protect them. So that's that's pretty amazing. So another one is that they are guardians. Right?

Yes.

[00:07:03] - [Speaker 1]
Another one is they are instruments of judgment. Now we don't like to hear that. Right? We like the touchy feely stuff that we have garden, guardian angels, for example. On the other hand, if you ever read the book of revelation and I I I encourage you to read it slowly, deliberately with a lot of bible helps by you to to help you understand what's going on there.

In the whole Bible, there is no other book in the Bible that mentions angels more than than revelations. Whether it's the singular angel or plural angels, It's mentioned 73 times. And most of the time it's in connection with judgement. We don't like that. But it's coming.

Alright? And in our last show we we spoke about going to church. Go get to church. Get right with god.

Before what revelations comes to pass. We'll talk about that in some future show. Another the the main thing that when you look at the original, say, the Greek and the Hebrew words for angels, a lot of times it's it's meant to be messengers. Mhmm. And I'm just gonna look at Revelations five two.

Mhmm. Let's look at five verse two. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming. Mhmm. In a loud voice.

[00:08:39] - [Speaker 1]
Mhmm. Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll? Wait. When you read that story right there, it's there's a song that we play and praise and worship that that that is based on that scripture right there. And I sometimes I almost sweep when I hear the song.

Mhmm. So angels are guardians. Angels are are messengers. You know, instruments of judgment for sure. And Marcus already hit on this one, But I wanna look at that.

Number seven and on my list over here, angels are part of God's army. Yes. Yes. God has an army that's coming back to take charge on the earth. Alright?

So for example, let me just look let me just look at Matthew 26 verse 53. And this is Jesus talking. It's

a good one.

[00:09:42] - [Speaker 1]
Do you think that I cannot appeal to my father? Mhmm. And he will at once send me more than 12 legions of angels to do what? To intercede, to to to do war, to to to break out on Earth on behalf of of Jesus if he gives the word.

Mhmm. This is when they were crucifying him at the time. He was actively being attacked and spit on and he's just he sent a word of warning that I'm sparing you because I do have an army. Whoo. That will fight for me.

Yeah. So, not only do they war though but the scripture says, do we not have ministering angels who minister for them who are the heirs of salvation. Oh, I like that. I put that scripture up. Yep.

They minister for us who are the heirs of salvation. I like that. So, the things that we think that we're so powerfully doing, it is the actions of the angelic host. Whoo hoo. That are ministering at our mouths.

I like that. They're doing what we are speaking. I like that. And so we have to remember that it is not just us. It is not us doing the work.

It is the ministering angels that minister for them who are the heirs of salvation. So, you can assign angels to do. I think some of our angels are fat and just sitting there doing nothing because we're not assigning them and to do anything because we've always, we've never really been taught about the interactions of the angelic host and what they do and so I think it's gonna be important for us now to to engage god's army on our behalf. I like that and one of

the names of of god, one of the names of our lord is lord which is the lord of hosts, Okay? And there's songs called Lord Saba off as well. You probably played some of pet. Yeah. Definitely, I've mentioned past shows that Marcus is a musician.

That's beautiful right there. So, you mentioned it earlier. Do do some angels have names?

Yeah. I mean, we have some that's called the chair holy cherubs. They're different

names like you're Marcus and I'm Roy.

That's a good question. I don't know. Yes. You mentioned it earlier. What?

I don't remember. Michael. Oh, Michael. There we go. Yeah.

Michael is the archangel. The only two instances we have in the Bible of of angels being given names is he already mentioned Michael and the other one is Gabriel. Gabriel. Yeah. Okay.

Okay. Yeah. You got me for a second there.

Yep. There are some churches that have a tradition of another angel called Raphael. Okay? But honestly, there is no there's no there's no mention in the bible of an angel called Raphael, but it's tradition in some churches. I'm not saying that Raphael, the angel with that name does not exist.

I'm just saying it's not in the bible. But if somebody in the past got some huge revelation in and it's made it into certain church teachings, we should not deny the possibility that's true, Raphael. Okay? But there's no scriptural basis for it. So I'm just trying to give you a balanced view of that.

A more serious question to ask, you know, is is Satan and Lucifer an angel? Satan and Lucifer.

[00:13:35] - [Speaker 0]
Whoo. So, I think I think when we use the word angel, we automatically Wee. Yes. Yep. The word angel just speaks of nature of what kind of something it is.

[00:13:50] - [Speaker 0]
When Jesus took a few of his disciples to the Mount Of Transfiguration, he changed who he was and in order to take them into the realm of the spirit to see what he saw. Whoo. Right? So, they begin to see people that had passed on and and and so he had to change his form. The Bible says that the light shine through his clothing to where it illuminated through his clothing, right?

Yep. So, it's speaking the word angels speaking more of of form or type. The Bible says that he made us what?

little lower than angels. What does that mean? It's talking about form. That's a good question actually. A little lower than an angel is only talking about nature, right?

[00:14:35] - [Speaker 0]
Because there are things that angels can do that we can do. But there are things that we can't do that the angels can do. For example, try to walk through that wall. So, who we are physically and and and our nature is what made us lower than the angel. But ability, god gave us very similar abilities but we have different physical limitations that the angels don't have.

Oh. This is why it says, we're a little lower than the angels because what angels can do, we have to speak. And so, a lot of those things that we can't do, the angels take over and they minister for us. There are things that we can't, you can't go and lay hands on your brother that might be in prison, right? Right.

But the angel can go there. Oh, that's good. That's right. We just have a physical limitations that the angels don't have but god has given us such a power on the inside of us, the holy spirit. It brings us just a little lower than the angel.

Wow. Yeah.

Do you think we'll be equal with angels in heaven or still still? I don't know. I feel

[00:15:48] - [Speaker 0]
like I I don't know. That's just an opinion. Yeah, just an opinion. I feel like we might be either equal or we have we might have the charge because if you think about it, we've lived on this Earth and we we've had to conquer sin. We sure did.

Yeah. We had to conquer sin. So, that might win us a little point. If you tell us in the comments, comments what you think but.

I like that. But I just, I think it's it's important to understand that we are so similar to angels, right? That angels can sometimes take human like form, right? The Bible says this Hebrews thirteen and two, it said, be not forgetful to entertain strangers who are thereby some have entertained angels unaware. So, our nature and what we look like are so similar that you could be you could be looking at an angel and mistaking it for a human being.

I remember being 13 years old. We had a gas station near our home. I grew up in inner city of Milwaukee. We had a gas station near our home and I always walked to this gas station and this is when I was really a new believer and I was just just loving on god, wanna do anything I can to help the poor, and and and do what I could and so I'm walking up the up the road and I see this guy at the gas station and the guy I'm getting ready to walk in the gas station. He stops me and says, I'm homeless.

I don't have any food. Can do you have anything that you could give me to help? Right? And I'm I'm 13 years old. So I'm thinking to myself, I wanna get a nutty bar.

[00:17:21] - [Speaker 0]
You know? Like, I wanna get some noun later. Kid. What I feel like? But the the the god in me compelled me to give him something.

[00:17:30] - [Speaker 0]
So I gave him a dollar and I think I only had like 60¢ left. I was like, I'll just go in and get some candy or something. And I gave him the dollar and then something told me like, hey, pray for him. Right? And so, as literally, I gave him the dollar, I turned around, and something said, pray for him.

[00:17:48] - [Speaker 0]
I turned back around and he was gone. I'm talking about the only Vanished. Vanished. The only thing that could have happened. Even if he took off running, there's no way he got that far and me turning to that way and looking back.

[00:18:03] - [Speaker 0]
There's no way he got that far away from me. This is an open concept. There's nothing but this this building right here to the side. There is no way that he would do and if he did, why would he run and hide? It makes no sense, okay?

[00:18:20] - [Speaker 0]
And so that day forward, I really believed that I had encountered an angel. When telling this story to other people, they have encountered the same thing. Giving money to a homeless person, turn around, look back, and they're gone. I think god gives us opportunities to give directly into heaven. To give directly into heaven so that we could see like this there there is an interaction between the earth and heaven.

There's a constant interaction. The Bible says Ezekiel saw a wheel way up in the middle of the air and it was there was a transitioning a ladder that was connecting heaven and earth. Right. So, yeah. So, I think definitely angels are here.

I don't think they they they're among us. Yeah. They're among us.

[00:19:06] - [Speaker 1]
Yeah. Yeah. And that that, you know, one of these days, we're gonna have to talk about aliens, okay? Marcus and I were talking about that and people like to say of aliens that they are among us. Mhmm.

You know, maybe are people misinterpreting what they think are are angels for

Could very well be the case.

Aliens. You know? I don't know. You know? But I just wanna mention this issue of of Satan being a fallen angel.

Yes. In addition to Gabriel and Michael, we are told about Lucifer. Mhmm. Who is known to us as Satan. Mhmm.

Are no longer defined in god as as god's angels since they rebelled against against god. Mhmm. Never again will they be given a chance to reenter heaven. Mhmm. Now, you know, I want to I want to read to you.

There is a scripture that Jesus spoke about. Mhmm. And you'll remember the scripture, and Jesus said, I saw Satan Falling. Falling from heaven Uh-huh. As a lightning bolt.

Mhmm. Okay. And when you read that, there's nothing before it or nothing after it to really kind of explain what what what was that about? Mhmm. But Jesus says that.

Okay? One of the things we need to look at is Revelations twelve and four. Okay? Now this demands that you do a little bit of studying, and I've done a little bit of studying on this, and I've read the commentary. There's lots of people who have done the commentaries.

Mhmm. So I'm not gonna get into all of that stuff, but I'm just gonna because of time over here, I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna read it to you first of all. Revelations 12 verse four says, his tail, the dragon's tail Mhmm. Swept a third Mhmm.

Of the stars Mhmm. Of the sky and flung them to earth. Mhmm. A third of the stars of the sky and flung them to earth. Now you look at you look at you look go back to the scripture where Jesus says, I saw Satan fall like lightning.

Like lightning. Like being flung from heaven. Mhmm. Okay? I'm connecting those two deliberately.

Okay? And when when you read the commentaries on that revelation scripture I just read to you. Yes, sir. I'm not gonna say it's universal but most most people that I respect, they say that those the the one third of those stars represent the angels that were kicked out of heaven Mhmm. During the rebellion

So so that's important to know. Okay? Because when you when you think about it, guardian angels. The the the that angels, one of the things, they're part of god's host. Okay?

I like numbers, alright? Now, when you think that a third of the angels are hell's angels.

Hell's angels. Mhmm. I I don't like that term that it it it seems to have been popularized by by gangs and and on on TV. But when you when you hear about that, it's only one third. Mhmm.

Okay? So that means that hell's angels are 100%. There's 100 more of God's angels Mhmm. Than there are hell's angels. They're vastly outnumbered.

So, who wins in the end?

Of course, the lord's host.

The lord's host wins in the end because the enemy is outnumbered. Whoo. Question.

Yeah. Because I've I've always thought about this. Angels seem it seems as if they have a choice in whether or not they serve god like we do. You you hear particular scriptures talking about the angels of the sons of god which is another term for angels made it with the daughters of men. Right.

Created Nephilims and giants. So, they were in heaven and they said, man, that lady is beautiful. I might wanna go down there and have fun, right? Right. So, we saw angels that were that left their rebel.

Rebelled like Satan. Right. Left their state and rebelled. We all I always had an understanding when I was a kid. I always thought that angels had no choice.

[00:23:50] - [Speaker 0]
You know, you watch television and you see the angel with the halo and the angel was like, you got a halo on you. And you always see that that that type of terminology being used for them like they like they don't have a choice other than to serve god. So, what I want you guys to understand that angels are voluntarily think about this. The Bible says that there are angels that that worship god around the throne twenty four hours a day. It's voluntary.

And we can't get you to go to church for three hours.

That's true.

But they voluntary work voluntarily worship god twenty four hours a day. That's that's a very, to me, that's a very, very telltale sign of the majesty of god. Woah. I love you. That's of words.

Angels would worship him voluntarily for twenty four hours without being tired, without watching their clock. Not that they have a clock but you get what I'm saying. Right. I do. They would worship him in a timeless way

and that's one that you know, I didn't think about it. Yeah. But that's one of the other. That's one of the other purposes of angels is to worship god. It is and that's why from revelation straight out from the revelations.

We'll be joining the angels in heaven. Yes. To to work to worship our god. We're gonna do it voluntarily. Mhmm.

God's gonna put words in our in our minds, in our mouths of songs we never ever learned. But we're gonna sing as if we've done it all our lives. Yes. It's it's such a beautiful thing. You know, I wanna I wanna read a scripture because we've been talking about the characteristics of angels.

Mhmm. You know, I wanna answer this question. You know, I got a dog. Alright? A little Shelty.

She's downstairs. And sometimes Veronica and I, we're we're in our living room and maybe we're watching TV and I see the dog. She she looks and she's staring like right at the corner. I don't know why it is, but in our house, it's at this one corner. Mhmm.

She stares at the corner like there's something there. Mhmm. Okay? And Veronica and I look and and I'm thinking she's looking at some bee or something flying around there or something like that, you know, and there's nothing there that we could see. Mhmm.

Okay? So, let's read this. I wanna read you this story over here. Mhmm. And it's from numbers twenty twenty one.

You've heard this story before. If you go to church regularly and you study your Bibles, alright? This is a story of Balaam's donkey.

[00:26:30] - [Speaker 0]
Okay.

[00:26:31] - [Speaker 1]
Okay. Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went with the prince of Moab. Mhmm. But God was very angry when he went and the angel of the Lord, the angel of the Lord stood up in the road to oppose Balaam. Now he's on his donkey, and and he's going he he's on his way to Moab, and God was mad at at Balaam for having done so.

So the angel of the Lord stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding upon a donkey and his two servants were with him. When the donkey saw the angel, Balaam did not see the angel. The donkey saw the angel. Okay?

When the donkey saw the angel of the lord standing in the road with a drawn sword, the angel meant business. Okay? In his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her because Balaam didn't see the angel. Balaam beat her to get back on the road.

[00:27:37] - [Speaker 1]
Then the angel of the lord stood in a in another another place in a narrow path between two vineyards with the walls on both sides. When the donkey saw the angel of the lord, she pressed close to the wall crushing Balaam's foot. Okay? So, he beat her once again. Twice now.

He's beat, he's beat this donkey and now the donkey because the donkey said, I'm not going any further. And and crushed his foot against the wall and he beat her again. Then the angel of the lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn either to the right or to the left. When the donkey saw the angel of the lord, she lay down under Balaam and he, Balam was angry and beat her for the third time now. Wow.

With his staff. Then the lord, then, the lord opened the donkey's mouth and we hear, now, this is an entirely different message right over here. Then, the donkey's open up the donkey's mouth and she spoke literally. To him saying, what have I done to you to make you beat me these three times? Balam answered the donkey, you have made a fool of me.

If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now. So, Balam's feeling righteous. He feels like I'm gonna kill this animal. And then crush my foot that's not doing what I wanted to do. He's feel he's he's he's feeling righteous indignation.

He feels like he and the donkey said to Balam, am I not your donkey? Would you have always ridden to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing to you? And he said, no, you've always been good to me, donkey, right? Then, then, the lord opened Balam's eyes.

It was then. So, Balam, the animal could clearly see the angel of the lord with that sword in the hand and the and the animals trying to protect his writer, his owner, from from certain death. Then, the lord opened the eyes of Balam and he saw an angel of the lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So, he bowed low and fell face down. The angel of the lord asked him, why have you beaten your donkey these three times?

I have come here to oppose you because your path is reckless one before me. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. So the two things I wanna arrive at over here is number one, the possibility that when we see things like what I saw with my dog, that there's a possibility that animals can see in the spirit realm. For example, angels, things that we can't see. Mhmm.

Alright? And that it it's possible that god can say, I'm gonna open our eyes so you could see that angel. Mhmm. Can you imagine the angel said, if it wasn't for your donkey, I would kill you. Mhmm.

Mhmm. You know, so that that's pretty profound right there. So I just wanna mention that that angels are around us. Pardon me?

Something I noticed because I was before you read that passage, it's interesting. I was thinking to myself, it seems as if anything that can't speak is able to see the angels. Oh, you mean like animals? Babies. Oh.

It seems like babies see angels.

You know, that's a good point.

Experience that I have seven kids. I've experienced that where the child is looking into the corner or playing with something that we can't see. Because the Bible says that the angels desire to look when talking about the coming of the lord. The the angel desires to look on certain things but cannot. So, heaven is very secretive about certain things, right?

Wow. And so, people who get to see more is people or animals or entities or things that can't speak. Whoo. I noticed that and I also noticed that the donkey never mentions when his ability to speak was given to him. He never mentions the angel because it is a secret and it's only allowed to be revealed.

That's that's by the angel. He can only be, the angel can only reveal himself. That's right. So, he, even the donkey, when the donkey begin to speak, the donkey didn't even mention the angel. He just said, why are you beating?

Why are beating me? And so, that that's something that I I kinda noticed. I I noticed that any anything or person or animal that can't speak, it seems as if they have the right to see the angels because guess what? They can't tell. There you go.

They can't reveal information to us that god is not ready to reveal to us. Oh my gosh. And you and you know about about god revealing a revelation. He does it at his own behest, right? Always.

Remember when when Jesus was trying to kinda conceal who he was. He said, right. Who do man say that I am? Right. Like some say you're a liar.

Some say you're John. Some say, you know, and then he said, all of a sudden, he said, you're the son of god and he said, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but the father which is in heaven. So, the revelation can come to them who can't speak because then god can control who receives it. Wow. I thought that was interesting.

No, no, no, no III agree with that 100% and I hadn't thought about it from that angle. Yeah. So, did you just get that from the lord? Yeah. Okay.

I'm back to Revelations 22 verse verses eight and nine. Revelations 22 verses eight and nine. Now, we're in revelation and of course, John is getting the messages from from from the angels. It says, I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship Mhmm.

At the feet of the angel Mhmm. Who had been showing them to me. Now you gotta imagine, this is the humanity of John. Mhmm. Okay?

And I'm not it it could have happened to you and I. Mhmm. Okay? This humanity of John. Imagine seeing everything in revelation being disclosed by the angel.

All these fantastic, unbelievable things happening at that by the angels. And here's this angel right there. And we see him. What is he he and he's in heaven experiencing this and he falls down to to worship. You know, that could have happened to us.

You you naturally could have concluded that they're to be worshiped.

Right? But the angel said to him, do not do it with an exclamation mark there. The angel said, do not do it Exclamation mark there. I am a what a fellow servant with you and with your brothers, the prophets, and all who keep the words of this book. Worship God.

And it says that with with an exclamation point again.

So folks, if you're part of of any kind of belief that says angels to be venerated or worship, that's not scriptural. Nope. Don't do it. Okay? Worship God.

Yeah. Remember the Mountain Mount Of Transfiguration? Yep. He showed them all of these these, past prophets but then the scripture says, when they looked up, only Jesus was standing there and they heard a voice from heaven say, worship ye him. I love that.

So, pretty much told him, hey, these are great people. These are great clouds of witnesses but worship ye him. Wow. Excellent.
